My workplace, a university campus, has turned into something like a ghost town that you might see in an old western. The students are on Christmas break and there are few faculty members still on campus. This morning has been invigorating just knowing I wouldn't have any students drop in for a "quick question" or colleagues needing a hand. Don't get me wrong I am happy to offer help if asked, but the constant breaks in a day can ruin any momentum towards progress.
Today is about refocusing. Today is about accomplishing tasks that were put on the back burner and re-prioritizing my task list for the coming semester.
This day is not only much needed, it's been long overdue. How often do you take these days? Admittedly, I don't take them near enough, but that's going to change... starting today.
